Professor Dr. Meher Nigar Neema, Department of Urban and Regional Planning (DURP), Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), is pleased to announce that Professor Dr. Meher Nigar Neema has been appointed as the Head of the Department on 05 April 2026. Professor Neema is a distinguished academic and researcher in the field of Urban and Environmental Planning, with global expertise in sustainable urban development, livability, and GIS-based spatial analysis. Her scholarly contributions have been globally recognized through her publications in leading international journals, including Computers, Environment and Urban Systems etc. In addition to her academic achievements, she has demonstrated strong leadership within the department, especially through her role in advancing academic quality and institutional development initiatives. The department also expresses its deep appreciation to Professor Dr. Asif-uz-Zaman Khan for his leadership and dedicated service as Head of the Department. Professor Dr. Asif-uz-Zaman Khan is a highly respected scholar in transportation planning and policy, with extensive academic and professional experience spanning both national and international contexts. His tenure was marked by significant contributions to academic excellence, research advancement, and institutional strengthening. His expertise, enriched by international exposure and engagement in consultancy and policy advisory roles, has left a lasting impact on the department.
