Background
Following the Least Developed Country (LDC) graduation, Bangladesh is facing the challenges to meet the targets of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the aspirations of its Perspective Plan (2021-2041). In the way forward, the country intends to deal its problems like phenomenal growth of urban population, regional inequalities, degraded environment, transportation problems, and over-exhaustion of natural resources in a planned way.
Being the oldest planning school in Bangladesh, the Department of Urban and Regional Planning is constantly on move to create an enabling environment for its students in order to produce competent graduates, who become confident in doing both spatial and sectoral planning. We try to educate our students with the up-to-date knowledge covering the broad spectrum of urban and regional planning that includes housing and community development, neighborhood design, land use planning, transportation planning, rural planning, regional development, physical infrastructure planning, environmental planning, climate change and disaster management, and urban management and governance.
