Celebration of Planning Week 2024: Just Urban Transition

The URP Students' Association of BUET (USAB), along with the Department of Urban and Regional Planning (URP) at BUET, organized Planning Week 2024 from November 23 to 25 on the BUET campus. The event focused on the importance of justice and equity in planning in the post-SDG era. The Head of the Department and President of USAB, Professor Dr. Asif-uz-Zaman Khan, inaugurated the event with a rally on November 23, 2024. This vibrant event featured various individual and team competitions, including photography, quiz, sports, and teachers' game. The most significant event of the Planning Week was held on November 25, 2024, at the Council Building of BUET. BURP Graduate, Second- and fourth-year students presented their research work titled "𝐸𝑥𝑝𝑙𝑜𝑟𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑅𝑒𝑎𝑠𝑜𝑛𝑠 𝐵𝑒ℎ𝑖𝑛𝑑 𝐿𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝐶𝑜𝑣𝑒𝑟 𝐶ℎ𝑎𝑛𝑔𝑒 𝑜𝑓 𝑆𝑒𝑙𝑒𝑐𝑡𝑒𝑑 𝑃𝑟𝑜𝑡𝑒𝑐𝑡𝑒𝑑 𝐴𝑟𝑒𝑎 𝑜𝑓 𝐵𝑎𝑛𝑔𝑙𝑎𝑑𝑒𝑠ℎ: 𝐴 𝑆𝑡𝑢𝑑𝑦 𝑜𝑛 𝐵ℎ𝑎𝑤𝑎𝑙 𝑁𝑎𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛𝑎𝑙 𝑃𝑎𝑟𝑘", “𝐴 𝑆𝑡𝑢𝑑𝑦 𝑜𝑛 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝐼𝑚𝑝𝑎𝑐𝑡𝑠 𝑜𝑓 𝐷𝑖𝑔𝑖𝑡𝑎𝑙 𝑇𝑒𝑐ℎ𝑛𝑜𝑙𝑜𝑔𝑦 𝑜𝑛 𝐷𝑖𝑓𝑓𝑒𝑟𝑒𝑛𝑡 𝐴𝑠𝑝𝑒𝑐𝑡𝑠 𝑜𝑓 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝐿𝑖𝑓𝑒 𝑜𝑓 𝑈𝑟𝑏𝑎𝑛 𝑃𝑜𝑜𝑟 𝐶𝑜𝑚𝑚𝑢𝑛𝑖𝑡𝑦 𝑖𝑛 𝐷ℎ𝑎𝑘𝑎” and “𝐸𝑥𝑎𝑚𝑖𝑛𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝐸𝑞𝑢𝑖𝑡𝑦 𝑡ℎ𝑟𝑜𝑢𝑔ℎ 𝑀𝑢𝑙𝑡𝑖𝑝𝑙𝑒 𝐿𝑒𝑛𝑠𝑒𝑠 𝑖𝑛 𝐷ℎ𝑎𝑘𝑎’𝑠 𝑇𝑟𝑎𝑛𝑠𝑝𝑜𝑟𝑡 𝑆𝑒𝑐𝑡𝑜𝑟: 𝐴 𝑆𝑡𝑢𝑑𝑦 𝑜𝑛 𝑀𝑅𝑇 𝐿𝑖𝑛𝑒-6 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝐿𝑜𝑐𝑎𝑙 𝐵𝑢𝑠”, respectively. 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐇𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐀𝐝𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐨𝐫 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐄𝐧𝐯𝐢𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭, 𝐅𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐂𝐥𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐁𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐥𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐡, 𝐒𝐲𝐞𝐝𝐚 𝐑𝐢𝐳𝐰𝐚𝐧𝐚 𝐇𝐚𝐬𝐚𝐧, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. A lively discussion moderated by Professor Dr. Md. Musleh Uddin Hasan followed the students' presentations, which was participated in by the RAJUK Chairman, DTCA Executive Director, DMTCL MD, UDD Director, BIP President, and others from the audience. The Honourable Vice-Chancellor of BUET, Professor Dr. ABM Badruzzaman, presided over the session. The event also included the unveiling of the magazine cover titled "Nagar Puran". During the closing session of Planning Week 2024, the Director of Students’ Welfare (DSW) of BUET, Professor Dr. Mohammad Al Amin Siddique, graced the event as the Chief Guest. Dr. Afsana Haque attended as a Special Guest. The session was chaired by Professor Dr. Asif-uz-Zaman Khan. The winners of various competitions were awarded for their talents and achievements. The event ended with a vibrant cultural function, including music, dance, drama, recitation, all performed by the URP students, and a concert.
