Academic Biography

Mashrur Rahman is currently pursuing PhD in Community and Regional Planning in the University of Texas at Austin, USA. Mashrur’s research interests include travel behavior, land use transportation interaction, and planning for public transit and non-motorized forms of transportation. His doctoral dissertation examines various ways in which the built environment affects travel behavior, travel attitudes and residential location choice. The primary motivation of his research is to inform transportation and land use policies that promote a healthy, equitable, and sustainable transportation for all.

Mashrur was awarded the prestigious Fulbright Scholarship and the Prime Minister Gold Medal Award for academic excellence. Prior to doctoral study, Mashrur achieved MSc in Transportation Science from the University of California Irvine, USA. He also holds bachelor and master’s degrees in urban and regional planning (BURP and MURP) from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET). He served as a lecturer for two years in Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology where he taught various courses including transportation planning, Geographic Information System (GIS), statistical methods in planning, housing, and social survey method.
