Training Programs under HEQEP Project at Deparment of URP, BUET

Department of Urban and Regional Planning, BUET, recently organized three training programs under the sub-project “Modernization of Data Analysis and Simulation Laboratory of Department of Urban and Regional Planning, BUET” of “Higher Education Quality Enhancement Project (HEQEP)”, which is jointly funded by University Grant Commission (UGC) and World Bank. The trainings were conducted on four sophisticated software: TransCAD and TransModeler, Statistica Dataminer and ERDAS IMAGINE. The participants were the faculty members, selected undergraduate and post graduate students of the department. The trainers were highly professionals and from abroad.
The training on “TransCAD and TransModeler” took place on 26, 27 and 30 September, 2012. Major topics covered in this training program are mainly Digitizing transportation features and transport demand modeling (covering trip generation, trip distribution, modal split and trip assignment). The trainers are Maks Alam, P. Eng., Maks Inc (USA)
The training on “Statistica Dataminer” took place on 12 and 13 October, 2012. Major topics of the training program are: Sampling, Hypothesis Testing, Parametric and Non-Parametric tests, Regression Modeling, Structural Equation Modeling, Cluster Analysis, Factor Analysis, Neural Analysis and Time Series Forecasting. The trainer is Saikat Mukhopadhyay (Sr. Statistician), StatSoft India.

The training on “ERDAS IMAGINE” took place on 14, 15 and 17 October, 2012. All techniques of image classification and analysis were covered in detail. The trainers are from Intergraph SG&I India Pvt. Ltd, India.
