Students of the Department of URP Achieve 2nd Position in an International Competition

Studyka, a renowned international organization of France, arranged an international competition titled  “Imagine a City of Tomorrow: Improving a Public Space” at the beginning of this year. In this competition, a group named Starlet, formed by three students (Tasnim Feroze Anannya, Kashfia Nehrin and Tasfia Tasnim) of 2010 batch of the Department of Urban and Regional Planning of BUET submitted a project focusing on the redesigning BUET campus in an energy efficient way. The competition commenced with the participation of 170 teams of different countries at  the preliminary stage, from which 30 teams qualified for the next stage. Considering the details of the projects thoroughly, 21 teams were nominated of which the group from BUET is one of the team. They finally made their way among the last 6 teams, who were qualified based on online voting and the appraisal of the judges.

The concluding stage of the competition was held at Paris in the Green City event on October 17, 2013. On behalf of group Starlet from BUET, Kashfia Nehrin presented the project which attained the 2nd position in this competition. The group is awarded with €1500. The judges conferred profuse compliments to the quality of education at BUET and expressed their intent to finance institutions of Bangladesh in the future and invited Kashfia Nehrin to join their organization as an intern.
