A Trust Fund has been created in the memory of Late Md. Aminul Islam by his wife Mrs. Hasina Islam on 17 February 2007. Late Md. Aminul Islam, a BUET graduate, was the Chief Engineer and Commissioner of the former Bangladesh Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA). The Trust Fund was formally inaugurated through a simple ceremony at BUET with the attendance of Professor Dr. A.M.M. Safiullah, Vice-Chancellor of BUET, Mr. Nazimuddin Ahmed, former Director of Archaeology, Bangladesh and younger brother of Late Md. Aminul Islam, Professor Dr. Sarwar Jahan, Dean, Faculty of Architecture and Planning, BUET, Professor Dr. Mazharul Haque, Head, Department of Civil Engineering, BUET, Professor Dr. Roxana Hafiz, Department of Urban and Regional Planning, BUET and faculties from different departments of BUET. Mrs. Hasina Islam formally handed over a cheque of Tk. 4 (four) lakhs to the Vice-Chancellor of BUET to inaugurate the Trust Fund. She also donated additional Tk. 30,000 to start work immediately after the inauguration of this Trust Fund.

As per the agreement of the Late Md. Aminul Islam Memorial Trust Fund, a study entitled Morphological Changes of Dhaka City over the last 60 years was undertaken by Professor Dr. K.M. Maniruzzaman of the Department of Urban and Regional Planning, BUET. This study was completed on February 2008. Some pictures of the event are given below:
