Planning Week 2009 jointly organized by the URP Students Association of BUET (USAB) and the Department of Urban and Regional Planning was successfully held on 8-10 April 2009 at BUET campus. The program was inaugurated by Dr. Mashiur Rahman, Economics Affairs Adviser to the Prime Minister as Chief Guest on 8 April 2009 at 5:30 PM at BUET Central Auditorium. Professor Dr. A.M.M. Safiullah, Vice Chancellor of BUET, Jean Claude Rogivue, Senior Adviser of UNDP and Professor Dr. Sarwar Jahan, President, Bangladesh Institute of Planners (BIP) also attended the Inauguration Ceremony as Special Guests. It was chaired by Professor Dr. Roxana Hafiz, Head, Department of Urban and Regional Planning, BUET.

?Planning for Inclusive Urban Development? was the theme of Planning Week 2009. Beside the Inauguration Ceremony, the program consisted a day long seminar on ?Urban and Regional Issues?, Roundtable Discussion on ?Dhaka: Mega City without a Custodian? and a Talk Show on ?Planners from BUET: Past, Present and Future?. An Exhibition on Planning and Developed was also arranged throughout the three days of the program. Students from Khulna University and Jahangirnagar University also participated in the exhibition.

Concluding Ceremony of Planning Week was held on 10 April 2009. Advocate Adbul Mannan Khan, State Minister of Housing and Public Works, GoB attended the program as Chief Guest. Professor Dr. A.M.M. Safiullah, Vice Chancellor of BUET, K.A.M. Morshed, Assistant Country Director of UNDP and Professor Dr. Sarwar Jahan, President, Bangladesh Institute of Planners (BIP) also attended the program as Special Guests. Professor Dr. Roxana Hafiz, Head, Department of Urban and Regional Planning, BUET chaired the concluding ceremony. ?Cultural Night? performed by the Students of Urban and Regional Planning Department was held after the concluding ceremony. Planning Week 2009 was supported by UNDP-Bangladesh and Bangladesh Institute of Planners (BIP).
